Can anyone point me in the direction of a screamin value, not quote pro grade, may not last 25 years but also won't dump your light on the concrete if used in reasonable circumstances boom?

Cowboystudio has great stuff for less. They also sell on ebay under discountbulbs, where you can get the stuff usually a bit cheaper :)
All my lightstands come from them and I don't see any reason to pay double for something that is probably the same quality.

it's sturdy, as extra counterweight when extended more I use a gallon jug of water attached with bungee cord
