i just returned from yet another trip through South East Asia (although i'm not home yet...) i purchased a Zen Vision and had a good play with it but ultimately returned it and got something else (i'll make another post a bit later). note that they are everywhere in HK but only a few places have them at the moment in S'pore, which is suprising as this is Creative's hometown...
the menu is much nicer and easier to use than the p2k. it is definitely a PMP and not a photo accessory. the CF offload speed is a little bit faster, but not blazingly faster. its initial display speed is much quicker than the p2k, but it's the same once the thumbnails are generated. it's a tiny bit thinner. this is about where the benefits end.
i got a black one, which had about 12 stuck pixels. i returned it, but the shop only had a white one. i reluctantly got that one as a replacement. the screen is a little bit smaller than the p2k, but sharpness and brightness don't even compare. the unit is only 30 gigs. it doesn't display raw images. as a PMP, it's a bit more media friendly than the p2k (less finicky about mp4 data rates and file sizes), but it still has its limits. it's great as a mp3 player, however. there is no print feature. the slideshow feature isn't as nice as the p2k. it includes the AV cable in the box, which is nice, but i got one for my p2k easily. you can synchronise with media player 10 and all of your files, which i thought would be a nice thing, but it ended up not being so handy. i was plagued by mediasource files no longer on my drive when i un-installed the software - i had to go into the registry to remove the references.
ultimately, the white unit i got crashed and died (i'm guessing it was the hard drive as it no longer vibrated upon power-up) which left me greatly worried. thank Gebus i was still around to return it. i can't compare how battery life compared to the p2k - they claim quite a bit longer. again it's a non-issue as i use a home-made external battery pack. i ended up getting a different PMP altogether and l'm completely happy with my trusty P2000 (i'll make about the other pmp shortly).
