The Land owner decided last year to develop the land. (Like we really need more homes in Las Vegas right now). They started leveling the lots in Febuary when I was there to photograph the owls. I got on the phone and called a friend to report what was happening. Later that day the construction crew was handed a stop order untill after breeding season. The burrows are being monitored to see how many chicks there are. Some time Auguest / September when all the owls are out of the burrows a team will go in and collapse the burrows and relocate the owls. Here in Florida NO ONE can remove a Burrowing Owl's nest for any reason. They are an endangered species here and if you own a lot they nest on, you are out of luck as far as building on that lot until the birds abandon that nesting area/ My Gear: 6D, 7D, EOS-M w EF-M 22 f2 STM and EF-M 18-55 f3.5-5.6 IS STM, 17-40L f4, 24-70L f2.8, 100 f2.8 non-IS macro, 70-200L f/4 IS, 400L f5.6,, Canon 1.4x II TC, Canon Speedlite 430 EX II, Better Beamer. As a worse case scenario, they could leave the burrows and build the houses around them, leaving them as a feature, sort of like a playground. Mitch- ____...^.^...____

Leave nature in peace, at least SOMEWHERE. Sick of this "paving Paradise", especially since they're happily ruining our Gulf!
