I really have never shot birds before, but I recently got a chance to visit a bird sanctuary for some 125,000 sea birds that migrate to Wilkes Island (Wake Island) every year to nest. While I was walking the shore line I was escorted by some 100 or so birds flying just above my head. I had a blast. Can someone help me with the types of birds I have shots of?

What a great day you had! I think I recognize a Frigate Bird in #5 :D But that's about it.
Great shots and thanks for sharing.

They're all pretty good, but I absolutely love #2. What a great shot that is.

I love those first two shots. I believe they're Grey-backed terns. And the fifth is definitely a frigate bird. Not sure about the rest :D

Thanks for the comments.

Because I really don't have much experience with birds, I was unsure on which lenses to bring. I settled on the 17-55mm and 70-200. I think the wide angle really helped because I had no idea that the Terns were going to fly so close to me. In the 2nd photo I literally turned around and snapped without even looking into the camera. The element of surprise prevailed. The bird was caught on camera before he had a chance to move.

Thanks ajosteve, I do have a couple more that I could share. Some are from a couple of months ago on the main island (Wake). I will post later tonight.
