HP LP2475W colour gradient?

Hi all,

I just got myself a HP LP2475W, as it is considered to be a good monitor for image work, having a s-ips panel and all that, at a very reasonable price.

However, I do find that there seems to be a slight colour gradient or colour shift, from left to right, from light pastel blue to light pastel pink. Is this normal?

I've tried everything, recalibrating well over 10 times, using RGB controsl to set th ewhite point, and the standard optiosn to set the white point, but i can't get rid of it. Furthermore, I turned lights off and on, pivoted the monitor degrees (portrait mode; it is a monitor which allows pivoting), turned it in different directions, no matter what I do, it stays the same, this colour gradient stays in the same physical spot, so it seems hardware related.

I am just wondering whether this is normal or not, or whether I got a faulty specimen.

BTW, my old monitor has a slight gradient, too, but that is a slight brightness gradient, no colour shifting of any kind.

Normal, no. Common, yes. I'd send it back.

I did some googling in the mean time, and indeed, it is common.

Rather disappointing, I guess. Maybe I should exchange it for something really better .

Agree... NEC are reputed to have better quality control and tighter tolerance standards with their LCD panels.

Thank you, to both of you. I am now looking into a slightly better class of monitor, like one in the range of NEC. More expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for .

I returned the 2475 today, and it will be sent back to HP. It looks like I wasn't the only one who saw the colour shift, fortunately .

Now just to find a local source for something else, which may not be easy. I'm considering Eizo and NEC, although NEC has some IPS-panels in the price range where Eizo has only PVA. I'll have to check up on pricing as well. Things are rather more expensive here when it comes to monitors than in the US f.e., and the difference is quite a bit larger than it is with lenses...
