I have both. I like 85mm on FF when shooting indoors full length studio shots. 85mm on my 1dmk2 looks just as 135mm on my 5d. For outdoors I don't ming 135 on either 5d or the 1dmk2. Guess what I am saying is that both are nice.

135L is really good on full frame. If you have extra cash, this should be a no-brainer. The only thing is: it will be tight indoors. I used my 85mm on a crop (equivalent to 135 on full frame) for indoor sports competitions. It will be too long just shooting portraits, although you can fit in a nice head/shoulder portrait with it. But you have to stand 15+ ft away from the subject to fit the whole body shots.

I recall around 16 feet for 1/2 body in portrait orientation on a crop with the 85. Not important, other than very few have the space for full body shots with the 85, shooting indoors.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

I just made the switch from the 85/1.8 to the 135/2 myself. I also have the 24-70 as my other primary lens, as you do. I don't miss the 85 a bit. Don't get me wrong, it's a great lens, but the 135 is sublime. The way I use them, generally speaking, is this. The zoom gets indoor duty for the most part and the 135 almost everything outside. Go for it!

The 135mm/L is never too long.

You're just too close.

Except, when you're in a room and you can't back up anymore :(

I don't own the 135L but I do own a 135mm lens and on a crop and inside you'll pretty much be relegated to just facial portraits with such a long lens and smaller Field of View.

With that said, from what I've seen from the 135L on Crop or FF, I would get it in a heartbeat.

If it was between the 85l and the 135l, it'd be the 85l. If it was between the 85 1.8 vs 135l, it'd be the 135l.
