WOW! That looks freaking cool. A 5 foot indirect Octa! I don't know if it's going to have an internal diffuser based on the indirect design, so you'd likely either be using it like a big silver para reflector or with the diffuser as a smaller more directional version of the El Octa.

It's not going to be cheap though! Every other indirect modifier that Elinchrom sells is right around $1k, so I would be surprised if this was any less expensive.

Another thought... both Photoflex and Chimera sell 5' Octa Fabric grids that might fit this! :)

Sadly, the 5' measurement usually refers to the arc of the fabric, not the opening. Because the DO has a very different shape, I assume the size of the front baffle will be quite a bit different (smaller) than the 5' photoflex/chimera octa, and therefore their respective grids.

From lightingrumours: Upcoming Elinchrom products: 150cm Indirect Deep Octa, 70cm Deep Octa, mini boom, reflex (Nano) stand and Snappy harness/strap for Quadra

Heard about the first two already but what the heck is the mini boom and Snappy harness?

If it is 60" across the face and works with the little Quadra, this could be something pretty special.

All but the indirect Deep Octa have popped up on the Elinchrom website now and some (Europoean) dealers are already stocking them.

Elinchrom also lists a RotaGrid for the new small DO (external link).

Man fotoflits must have a close relationship with Elinchrom. They always post stuff before anywhere else.

Without opening a giant can of worms/sidetracking this thread immensely (PLEASE can we not turn this into an AB vs Elinchrom thread), it comes down to quality. Both build quality, and quality of light.

Aw come on. Let's fan the flames. PCB is just tapping the hobbyist market with cheap knock offs. The new EL deep octa is filling the gap Profoto left in the pro market.

Looks like it'll be sweet.

The Deep Octas is a great addition!!

Snappy case looks good as well, actually better then the Ranger RX snappy as you can replace the shoulder strap which is crap on both versions btw.

Wasn't there signs of a small octobox that fit directly on the Quadra mount (no adaptor needed) at one point? What happened to that?

I havent seen that, but if its the same size and build as the native Quadra SB i wouldnt bother with it.

There's a small softbox (maybe three sizes?) - I've got one, but haven't had a chance to play with it yet. I do know the DO is easier to put together :-)

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)
