Which Markins?

I bought one for my 70-200 F4 IS. Cheap enough and all metal. Actually I have never seen a plastic knockoff offered for sale.

There's always a first

I ordered an Opteka this morning from Amazon. It was $25 with shipping. It was either that or no collar at all, I'm not spending $150 on something that should have come with the lens. How much do you figure Canon pays for them, maybe $20?

That's I'm sure how Canon keeps the f/4 price point low although I agree with you that the collar from Canon is overpriced.

I realize that, but I'm saying that they could include it because it would cost them nowhere near $150 like it does us. The markup on them has to be at least 6x or 7x.

Actually, I don't think Canon can bottle water for $10/gallon. I'd rather they left it alone and the third party guys handled it. That way you'll get one for $35 instead of $100, or a 70-200 f/4 for $800.

I have both te 20 and the Q3T on my travel tripod both will handle up to the canon 100-400 lens easily.
