I've taken a few little clips of my kids around the house while handholding the camera... that never really produced anything that stood out...(at least not to people that aren't their parents)
I finally got my tripod setup(Manfrotto with pistol grip ball head) and I used part of it to shoot this video...

I took the center column out of the tripod with the pistol grip head attached and used that to steady the 7D so that the video would look better... on this video, I shot it upside down in order to gain a different perspective more fitting to the subject...

let me know what you think... it's fairly short at less than a minute so it won't take too much your time...:)

When I first saw the subject of "First 7D video for me...", I was thinking another Cloverfield camera action. Good job in keeping it somewhat steady. Made it easy to watch. She's cute. Looks like she had fun celebrating, even though there were no fireworks at the moment.

Thanks to all of you for your comments...

eCub - I have some vids like that...just don't like to watch them myself, so I wouldn't ask any of you to watch them... I was happy that I found a cheaper way to steady the camera for video, although it would be nice to have all of those cool DSLR rigs :)

Rhys - Poppy is pretty cool, and he was super pumped to hear that was commented on...

Do you like your tripod with the pistol grip? Been thinking about getting one.

absolutely... pistol grip might be a misnomer... I think they call it a "joystick"... but either way I like it. I can make it work like a typical ball head and remove all the tension by placing a zip tie around the grip and cinching it down... that gives me the ability to use both hands on the camera if I want... otherwise the momentary release with the joystick lever is really nice... stops exactly where you let go

mine is the manfrotto 222 (I think...) and I have the 055 legs
