Any recommendations for a lightweight jpeg (and/or RAW) image viewer that will also display EXIF data? I primarily use Windows Photo Viewer--which is obviously not so grand--and I'd prefer to transition to something I can use longterm. An system resources hog is not preferred, as I may need to use a netbook at times. TIA

Thanks guys--I'm trying IRfanview and I like it--I'm just disappointed that I have to click multiple buttons (info-->EXIF) just to have a window with the exif to pop up.

Is there no alternative that can be configured to partition off part of the screen to display EXIF data by default?

Check out FastStone. While viewing a picture just move the cursor to the right edge to get the EXIF.

Perfect, I absolutely love it! I'm going to check out irfanview a bit more, but the faststone maxview program is EXACTLY what I was hoping for! Thanks!

Edit: I'm pleased that it even works with RAW files. It's unfortunate that RAW thumbnails aren't displayed properly, but I couldn't ask for much more.

Another FastStone fan! :D

The thumbnails have nothing to do with FastStone, you need another program to view raw thumbnails. There's an official Canon codec that's supposed to do this but I've never been able to get it to work.

So I downloaded an aftermarket codec, FastPictureViewer, and it works fine. I can see my 50D raw thumbnails and it's supposed to work with a bunch of other raw formats too including Nikon's .nef.

Speaking of thumbnails...

I always want to view thumbnails when I open a directory in Windows XP Pro SP3. But I have to select View > thumbnails every time I open or create a new directory.

Anyone know how to make this the default? I'm not finding anything...

In Tool/Folder Options you can set your current view as the default.

Ah, there it is!

I forgot you have to have a folder open to get that menu. Thanks!
