Just a a quick question, I've got a copy of CS2 for the PC. Does the same edition run on the mac or do I need to get a full new copy?

Software made to run under Windows will not run on a Mac.

But, to argue the counter of that, a lot of software is now made to run on both. Unsure if CS2 is the same situation or not.

You can get a copy of CS2 that will run on a Mac, but you can't run the Windows copy you have on a Mac; the operating systems are different.

I believe years ago the older distributions contained both the Mac and PC versions on the same CD - The program is now so HUGE that they (Adobe) now sell 2 seperate versions.
They also get to make more money this way as you have to buy 2 copies if you change to a Mac or PC :D
But to answer you question - You will have to buy another copy :(

Well that's....inconvenient. ANother 3 figure sum in addition to the Mac itself makes mac's seem less affordable than before. Anyone know if Gimp runs on an apple? :P

If you own a license for Windows you can do an "platform upgrade" through Adobe. It cost a bit, but it's cheaper than to buy a whole new license. Unless you find someone who wants to trade their Mac license for your Windows license, the Adobe "platform upgrade" is the way to go.

Another way I've heard of is to buy a cheapo old Mac version (genuine of course - look around you may find an old version 5, 6,or 7 etc.) and then simply buy an upgrade from either a retail store or Adobe direct - you may save money that way. I'm sure this is a legitimate way around things, as long as you have bought a genuine old copy.

Just curious, what would the performance be like running a virtual PC with a resource hog like PS CS2?
