Afghanistan is always in the news and I am sure we all have our views on what s happening there, however there is one, I think, undeniable fact about the place. From the air it is stunningly beautiful.

This is northern Afghanistan from about 35,000 feet.

It really still is, in a different kind of way. I was there last summer for 7 months. Did around 10,000 miles worth of convoys.
I really wish this forum had an appropriate place for just general pictures. Because mine from over there are all taken with a point and shoot in less than ideal conditions and not up to par for around here.


Canon 7D...28-135mm IS...70-300mm...and a desire for a lot more...with a wallet that does not fit that desire...

The beginner clicks the shutter and says "Let's see what I got." ... The experienced photographer thinks "How can I capture what I see?"

Nice shots Neil, must be in the north. The south doesn't look like that...I'll post my aerial shots of Afghanistan in August.
