Taken yesterday, this is overlooking the Abbotsbury Swannery looking South East. The Fleet and Chesil Beach with the Isle of Portland in the background. I've made several attempts at this scene in the past and today the weather gods smiled on me.

1/125s at f/16, ISO 200.

Lucky swine. I've tried this view on a couple of occasions and the results have been mediocre - due to the visibility. Well done! Very well done!

Adam,

The farmer has replaced the barbed wire since my last attempt, getting my tripod, backpack and myself over it was "interesting" to say the least.

Low lying winter fog might make for a good shot from this viewpoint if you are local enough to grab an opportunity. From Salisbury that rules me out.

Nice work Richard. I can see why it would be difficult to get that perfect shot.

White Satin,

The couple on bikes I chatted to at the car would agree with you. To my comment that riding up that hill would kill me, his reply was "thats what it's doing to me".

In the original I can count the swans at the sanctuary, in this reduced version they are invisible.

scrumpy,

Does the Chapel on the hill have a proper name do you know? To me it's just a useful focal point, but I've studied the road map and all it says is "CHAPEL RUINS".

Hi, this reply may be a few months late, but I have only just discovered and joined these forums. The chappel is know as St Catherines, details can be found on this site http://www.st-catherine.org.uk/chapel1.htm (external link)

I have taken many photos in the past of this area in the days of film....and the weather can be hit or miss....I think now I have a 550D I will need to get down there again and see what I can come up with in digital.

Regards
Birderman

Great job - I'm looking forward to visiting Chesil Beach again in the summer. You've done a beautiful part of the country justice.

Cheers,
Rich
