Is there supposed to be a lens hood for the 18-55mm kit lens. I purchased a T2i with lens kit yesterday from Bestbuy and there is no hood but the lens appears equipped for one? Jusy wondering if I got shorted or if Canon doesn't see fit to include one. TIA

No Canon in their wisdom sell the hoods as additional Items and charge a arm and a Leg for them , I have had good luck with Fleabay Knock Off's .

I've never bought a lens that didn't have a hood with it regardless of price unless it was used. But then I've never bought a canon lens before . Oh well a 70-200 f4 is next on the list so I'll get the hood with that one. It's not really a biggie and I didn't even think about it till I went out to test the video and the lens didn't like the bright sun too well. Thanks for the quick replies.

The Canon EW-60C, which fits the various 18-55 mm lenses, is a very small excuse for a lens hood anyway. So it may not have helped, even if you had it.

I bought one off ebay for £7.00 ($5 or so)

It is only a bit of plastic, but it useful to provide extra grip whilst foccusing.
