Keep in mind the value of what you are carrying.
What'd that 100-400L set you back? I know new they are priced somewhere around $1600.00. Add in the other stuff, and you get the idea.
I realize that money spent on a backpack is tough, because it not an active part of the picture taking process but it protects what is! 
FWIW - I am in the same boat as you, looking at some new bags/packs.
I saw the Canon one at Best Buy and my initial thought was it wouldn't do the job.
Also you might want to consider carrying the camera body and lend separated.
I believe that a lens and body NOT ATTACHED might be able to better handle being jarred a bit.
I'm speaking from experience, as I had a 70-200 f/4 L attached to a 7D inside a camera backpack and it fell from about 3' in height. The camera escaped unharmed, but the lens needed to be repaired.
