I am getting into photography, and need a nice carrying backpack type case.

I currently have a T2i, and the 100-400 L is my largest lens. I will also be carrying a 55-250, and kit lens.

Any recommendations? Will the Canon backpack fit it all ? Its hard to tell online what will hold the T2i and 100-400 connected to it..

Thanks!

If you are only carrying the camera and the lenses you mentioned it would. But the zippers on the canon backpack have a tendency to pull open under a full load so I would be wary of it. I used small carabiners to lock the zippers together. But if can spend a bit more the lowepro mini trekker is a better bag of similar capacity and better quality

Wow it may be nicer, but 4x the price!

Keep in mind the value of what you are carrying.

What'd that 100-400L set you back? I know new they are priced somewhere around $1600.00. Add in the other stuff, and you get the idea.

I realize that money spent on a backpack is tough, because it not an active part of the picture taking process but it protects what is! ;)

FWIW - I am in the same boat as you, looking at some new bags/packs.

I saw the Canon one at Best Buy and my initial thought was it wouldn't do the job.

Also you might want to consider carrying the camera body and lend separated.

I believe that a lens and body NOT ATTACHED might be able to better handle being jarred a bit.

I'm speaking from experience, as I had a 70-200 f/4 L attached to a 7D inside a camera backpack and it fell from about 3' in height. The camera escaped unharmed, but the lens needed to be repaired.

I just got a Lowepro Flipside 400 which will work well for me . There is a 200 and 300 model as well . Here is a youtube demo of the 400.....

Yes, the Flipside would work, but if I had just 2 large lenses and one camera body, I'd get a nice lens case and a smaller backpack. How often do you need both?

I think I am going to go with the Flipside 200. Just not sure if it is much of a hassle to get items out of it. That is about the price I am wanting to spend though. I should have planned all this out better and not been in such a rush :(

You might be best to plan for the future and get a bit bigger than you need . While the 200 may work for you now the 300 is only marginally larger and a bit more cost wise so that might be something to consider .
It doesn't take long to get it off and flip it around but my thought is if you are in a target area you should have your camera and choice of lens out and around your neck ready to shoot . I like the fact that no one can access your gear from behind or beside you .

Seems like the Canon fits more than the flipside 300. Right?
