When you purchase new equipment, do you keep the receipts?

When you sell equipment, do you ask for the sales receipt?

You can choose more than one answer.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

If the item is out of warranty I don't bother asking receipt unless i have some doubts. I keep the receipt in the original box and so it's going to be there as long as box is in existence.

I know more about gear than I know about photography :p

I generally save receipts until the warranty runs out. After the year has passed I know the warranty is no longer effective so I toss the receipt and the warranty card.

Same thing with the boxes. ;)

I keep my "New" receipts for the required seven years.

I save them. But I can't always find them. It's a bad combo of ADD/OCD....

generally, so far for my photography gears, I only buy new. and I keep them in the box of the item I bought. so that if I decide to sell them, I could find the receipt easily.

I even keep the Original Packaging <--plastic bag, big brown box just of the store I bought it from. haha I am not sure why

I keep the receipt as long as I can unless it's lost. It may serve as an interesting artifact.."I paid what for that ?"

I keep them until the warranty runs out. Or until I remember them. Or I lose them.

I also keep mine for a long time. I have a file cabinet with a bunch of hanging folders. One is photo gear. I also provide the sales receipt for any gear I sell as I also save the boxes and all the paperwork and manuals. When I buy used I prefer to have the sales receipt as well unless it's really old.

I never kept receipts in the past but when I bought my new camera I decided to get insurance coverage and they requested copies of the receipts. Now as I buy equipment I send a copy to the insurance company and then keep the original so if I do have a claim I have a receipt I can send in with the claim just in case the insurance company requests another copy.

I am pretty much with the crowd. Keep the receipt until the warranty runs out or I sell the item.

I keep them in the box the item came in, that way I can find them when I need to.

Only when the warranty depends on it or I would need it for a return.
