Sometimes the shadows are too dark relative to the highlights to get detail without adjusting them both after the shot is in the pc...like this...

I know I'm late to the party. Better half and I went to visit daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter 2.5 hours away. But I did promise you an edit. This was done using only Enhance > Adjust Lighting > Shadows/Highlights. The information is there in the picture (more so with RAW). All you need do is make it visible:
