We took a 10 day vacation in late May / early June. 7 days was a cruise and then we spent a few extra days after in Tampa visiting friends and Busch Gardens.

On the cruise, especially on port days I would just unload my cards to my laptop and then copy files to an external drive. Out of the 10 days I ended up with nearly 2000 pictures and I'm still sorting through them all.

Remember not to make the mistake of only backing up on one medium.

yeah, always keep your files in two or more locations.

hard drives are not 100% reliable.

if you have a laptop with your, then keep them on a laptop and burn a dvd for backup. ideal burn speed on 16x media is around 8-12x.

burning to low (2x-4x) on 16x dvds is not ideal.
