I know absolutely nothing about birds or about photographing them. I was in the park near my home a few minutes ago when suddenly all the birds started chirping loudly. The noise went on for a while so I got out of my car to see the cause and saw this bird standing in the grass. So I got back in my car, grabbed my camera and the longest lens I had and got off a few shots.

I have no idea what it is; can someone identify it?

The bird just stood there even though it was being "dive bombed" by the other birds. After a few minutes it flew away while still being attacked.

It looks like a red-tailed hawk.

Thank you. I kinda figured it was a hawk of some kind but it was really lumbering when it few away. Not at all how I expected a hawk would fly.

It's an adult Light-Morph Red Tail Hawk. Great shots. For some reason, once in awhile, they like to dig worms. Or maybe going after a mole. I see he is doing some digging, by the dirt flying behind him.

Awesome...thanks for the ID.

What are the black birds? Those things are fearless.

That's a Red Wing Blackbird. They always harrass the bigger birds, as do most other smaller birds. Fun to watch. I hope you got a card full of shots of this guy. :)
