+1 on great choice, for my T1i got both kits lens back in Nov-2009 as package when bought the T1i, 18-55 IS and 55-250 IS, both are great starter lens. Taken many-many shots with the 55-250 IS. That's my long zoom lens until I save $$$'s for the 100-400L (a 2011 want). It's also a good idea to keep the 18-55mm IS together to mate with the t1i or t2i it was purchased with. When you decide to resell it, the value seems to increase beyond the cost of a used 18-55 alone (over a bare t1i-t2i body)

ingraman Member 169 posts Joined Mar 2009 More info | My favorite lens because of it's size, weight, sharpness, and zoom. I've owned a Sigma 150-500mm and a Canon 100-400mm, and I prefer neither to the 55-250mm.
