Hi all,

Just looking for some recommendations from some locals of what might be worth seeing in and around BC. We are from Vancouver and have 4-5days (I know, not as much time as I'd like). Wildlife and landscapes and any other ideas along those lines would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Nobody jumping on this one, huh. Well just moved from there back to Calgary but I'll share my thoughts with you.

Taking the old #1 up the Fraser Canyon is a great trip - through the Lillooet-Cache Creek area. Great cowboy country and great canyon shots.

Up in the Okanagan, going to the Wine Country and visiting vinyards will give you some great vistas of Okanagan Lake. As well as superb wine tasting.

Further up the #1 to Williams Lake and the interior has great backwoods (I'd suggest getting a BackRoads book from your local bookstore.

Also, take a trip to the island and drive across to Long Beach, Tofino and Ucluelet. Good or bad weather you can always get great Ocean pictures there. Check out the Wild Pacific Trail in Ucluelet.

That should be some ideas for you to start with. I'd check with Local Interest books in Chapters for more good ideas.

We are going to avoid the island this time, summer + ferries = chaos! We are more looking towards your first suggestions, Okanagan, interior etc. Never really done much that way so looking for some neat things to see and work in a little photography as well. Thanks for your response!

If you're looking for landscapes I would head up toward whistler and the surrounding areas. Garabaldi provincial park is a gem, check out brandywine falls its a 70m waterfall 20 min. walk off the highway. Also if you're into hiking at all check out the joffre lakes just outside of pemberton. Just google images it, your jaw will DROP. Go to vancouverhiking.com and look at all the lakes and waterfalls in the area and you'll find some stunning places. Also maybe try lilloet or golden and Highway one, Frasier canyon.

My 2 cents.

About 5 km north of Hope, just off Hwy 5, there's an old railway line where the tressels have been pulled up and made into pathways that Follow the river
There's camping hiking and From there it's a quick drive back to the Hope slide and the Hope Princeton Hwy, which has some very nice scenery

Usually I spend the summer fishing and I don't have time to travel around this beautiful province. So basically looking for some pointers from people who get a chance to. Thanks to all who have replied so far.

My situation is similar. I have never been more than 600 km north of my city but the state where I live is about 2500 km N-S long and over 1000 km wide but I would still be able to tell anyone where the photographic hotspots in the state are.
