Manfrotto 680b & 681b

It seems to me they are very much alike. The 681b has a higher load capacity. Is it because it has 3 legs instead of 4 or is it actually a more heavy duty Monopod?

The 680B is about 3 inches shorter in overall length.
I am 5"11 and bought the 681B. The 680B is too short for me.

With the 680B being 4 sections when not in use it does collapse shorter in length compared with the 3 section 681B. How tall are you?

You'll find the 680B quite adequate and it is shorter when collapsed for transport.

I use a Manfrotto 486RC2 ball head on my 680B so that I can set it up at any angle that I want with any lens that I want (with or without a tripod ring, that is) and it works out great for me. I'm 5'10" tall, by the way.
