I was only able to be at MMP in Tooele for Friday's ALMS practice sessions. I did get a few shots off of the LMP and GT cars but unfortunately not in the heat of battle. It's been 40+ years since I've had a chance to shoot sports car racing but it will now not be my last. 1D2N & EF 400 f/5.6L.

RocketSports Racing Jaguar XKR has a great sounding V8.

Risi Ferrari F430 has a high strung V8.

Robertson Racing Ford GT has one of the best sounding engines.

Flying Lizard Porsche GT3 RSR also has one of the best sounding engines.

your shot of the BMW is clearly the best here. I would recommend practicing your panning...

BMW shot is good, Corvette not bad.

But the others are off I'm afraid. Panning technique and keeping the focus point on the car, in the Intersport Racing AER Lola shot the focus point has slipped off and onto the background, which looks pin sharp.

Also more variation in the location you're shooting from, these are all taken from the same corner on the track

My advise would be : Don't be afraid to the take hundreds (or even thousands) of images ... but be very selective over the ones you keep, maybe only keeping the best 40 to 60 images (or so) from a race weekend. That's the way I work.

My technique has slipped a bit in the last 40 years. :( Hopefully I'll get some more practice. ;)

You may also want to consider stopping down a little bit for the 3/4 shots, your depth of field looks a bit too shallow for the focal length.
