Meh.... 5400 RPM :( I was just about to order it hehe. I need a new harddrive for photos. Not sure if 5400 RPM will be fast enough.

1TB USB powered external HDD here still costs around $180-200... and are difficult to find

No, its an internal harddrive 2TB in size.

This isn't something I would want to boot on. A 5400 RPM drive is more than sufficient for storage and backups.

Sort of. 10 years ago, I had trouble filling 20GB, though, so technology is creating a need along with the solutions.

By the way, I like these 5400 RPM eco drives because they're quiet and run cool. They're perfect for external enclosures and fanless systems. My only gripe and this is the case with the WD Green drives as well is that it takes hours to do a full format and then another several hours to do a full surface scan in DOS.

I paid 59.99 for a Hitachi 1TB 7200RPM from newegg a few weeks ago. Now its at 74.99. Why do prices of these jump so much?
