Spiny Spider

Not macro strictly speaking, but its pretty close, and a small critter Critter in quetion is g. cancriformis, which is a common type of spiny orb weaver. These pictures were taken right as he finished building his new home. Had some trouble getting good dof and focus due to the some what dim early morning light and the web blowing in the wind. C&C welcome.

Those things are all over Florida! They aren't poisonous but they bite and are really painful or so I've heard

Yeah, they truly are all over down here, and oddly these guys really start building in the fall. And when they make their webs they stretch from the lower branches of fully grown trees all the way to the ground, so if you walk into the web, prepare to absolutely freak out as it collapses around you. Oh, and you'll also be getting crawled on by a Spiny Orb Weaver...haha I speak from experience
