I'm thinking about taking some classes in NYC and I was wondering if any of you (from New York City) have had some good experiences with any? I'm looking at NYU continuing education classes for the Fall Semester and I requested an FIT catalogue as well. Any suggestions would be great, I have an open mind. Right now the NYU courses I'm looking at are:

Photography: New York at Twilight:

At twilight, the rhythm of the city abruptly changes. The shifting light from the sky yields a kaleidoscope of colors on the streets below. Explore this moment of light and shadow and learn to observe the nuances of contrasts and change from daylight to dusk. Field trips around Manhattan alternate with classroom reviews in a supportive environment. Lectures and demonstrations encourage aesthetic development.

and

Photography: From Beginner to Exhibitor:

If your dreams include sharing your personal photographic vision with a wider audience, then this class is for you. Receive critique, guidance, encouragement, and the necessary technical assistance to accomplish your goals. An annual group show of student work is arranged at a New York City gallery for a one month-long show.

I'm a beginner (been shooting for about 5 months) and I've read loads of books and think its time to step it up a notch. Thanks in advance!

NYU is one of the top universities in the nation. How can you go wrong?

I'd be very interested in your review. How much is it, btw?

The twilight class is $380 and the exhibitor class is $450 plus showcase fees. My only issue is that I was not at all impressed with the professors' work (featured on their personal websites)...

I took a look at one of the professors work and it is not my cup of tea. So I can see how that would make you hold back. If you think your gonna get a good bang for your buck then take the classes. Or just keep reading and learning from the net and ask question as people are willing to help on forums like this.
