So after a long debate and convincing from my wife(i hate to spend money on myself, rather spend it on my daughter and wife). she basically forced me to get a new body. so i went through the loyalty program at canon and got a refurbished 50D. I am very excited, and defiantly think it will be a good upgrade from my 20D. will be sure to post some pics, it should be here friday via Fedex, so that tells me it will be here monday or tuesday(i've never ever had a Fedex package show up when they said it would).

Gear List.
50D w/grip, 50 1.8 II, 28-105 3.5-4.5 II USM, 70-300 4-5.6 IS USM, 17-40 4L/USM

It's a good move. I went from a 20D to a 50D last month.

i am pretty stoked, i am thinking my 17-40L will make a nice pairing. Just think i might need to order another memory card or to, i think the largest one i have is 2 gigs, hell the last one i bought was over 3 years ago.

With the file sizes of the 50D a newer card might help, especially if you are shooting at 15MP RAW. I used a Sandisk Extreme IV with my 50D and it was plenty fast enough. BTW, do you work at Dyess AFB?

Same here. I was using a 2GB SanDisk Ultra II with my 20D. I find that the card is still fast enough for the 50D, but it only holds 90 full size RAW images.

Cool :)

Just did the same thing myself and I'm loving the 50D. It seems to be a little less popular around here than the 40D or the 7D...

I have a couple of 4GB cards which meet most of my needs, each will capture more than 1000 large jpegs. I don't shoot RAW often. My colour vision is a little compromised anyway, so the extra flexibility offered by RAW is a little lost on me.

Congrats. Hope your arm heals after you wife put it behind your back and forced. You might need the use of the arm to hold the camera. :)
