I have read a ton of information about flashes, but need some recommendations.

I want to get a flash for my XS, but am on a budget. I have looked into the promasters but recently found the flashes made by Yongnuo. Can anyone recommend the best flash for the buck? I want to be able to bounce light. Use it for everyone from family events to larger rooms.

I dont even know if I am asking the right questions.

Thanks for any help.

You want one of the ETTL capable models from YN. I think the bottom end of the ettl capable range is the YN 467.

I honestly havent used them. They pretty much evolved after I had spent $800 on canon flashes. They are very often recommended here as a good value for the money. Keep in mind there is a difference from certain cloned items like remote releases, off camera cables, and a flash. The YN flashes dont attempt to copy the canon but do provide similar functionality.

The recycle time can be pretty slow, but I like them for what their worth.
