So I am about to buy this filter. Does anyone know if there are threads on this for a lens cap? I know there has been some discussion about lens caps and thin filters.
Thanks

Best bet is to call Singh-Ray direct (they're very helpful), but I would bet that it doesn't. "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son". - Dean Wormer

Is this one the same as the Vari-N-Duo? ->LINK Doc Klepper in the USA

Is this one the same as the Vari-N-Duo? ->LINK No, that's just the standard variable neutral density filter. The Vari-N-Duo combines an integral warming polarizer. AFAIK, the standard Vari-ND is not compatible with a separate polarizer (at least from what I heard). Try the Singh-Ray website...lots more info available and, since I believe that B&H sells for the same price as S-R, why not just go to the source? They're very helpful...I initially bought the standard Vari-N-Duo, but didn't care for the vignetting. I sent it back and S-R re-mounted it for me into the thin mount... It may seem expensive at first blush, but when you factor in the cost of high quality, individual filters (warming polarizer, multiple ND's), the price pretty much washes out. I now have several specialty filters from S-R, and I can't say enough good things about them. Quality gear, and a quality company with excellent customer service. Thanks to me!

So will this take the place of all my other ND filters (Not the GND, but the ND) Doc Klepper in the USA

I wouldn't completely say yes bcoz' Lee also has the "Big Stopper" which reduces 10 stops of light and imo is the best ND out now. While your SR is a nice piece and presents no color cast, the Lee is a nice addition to the collection. The blue cast from the Lee is easily corrected in PP and definitely worth the price tag. It's just a popular item atm but, is definitely worth the wait.

The standard Vari-N-Duo vignettes up to about 35mm on the same setup. "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son". - Dean Wormer
