So, I purchased one of those $8 neoprene straps a while back, thinking it
was a steal for the price. It is indeed comfortable, and has a Spandex
layer on the outside of the strap. It's certainly long enough overall,
and the shock-absorbing qualities of the neoprene make it that much
more comfortable.

But I hate it.

The Spandex covers only one side, the adjustment buckles on the nylon-web
portion are constantly sliding, and the nylon keeps bunching up around the
hasps/loops on the camera body. Not having Spandex on the side which
rests against my neck makes for a slippery/sweaty experience, too.
Very uncomfortable.

Seeking some suggestions.

I don't mind paying a few bucks for a quality strap, but I can't justify some
of those $80-plus jobs. I don't want the non-slip inner surface, as I simply
don't need it. Spandex- or cloth-covered neoprene would be ideal. Sling
and holster-type contraptions are just not what I'm looking for. Quick-release
types are not necessary or even sought, but if that's a must for the other
features I seek, I'll consider it.

Am I asking for too much, or an impossible combination?

Check the PacSafe 100 (external link). I started using it on trips abroad when I was in unsavory places as it has two steel cables in it that are cut and grab proof. It was so comfortable that I now use it as a daily strap.

It's also a great deal at $20.

+1 I've used the POTN straps: carrying two bodies with the 17-40L and 100-400L for about six hours straight, and did not have any neck strain or pain afterwards.

Looks great, but there's only one view of the strap.
Is it bare neoprene on the neck side?
Not keen on the quick-release system, either.

What didn't you like about the Op-Tech?
I can't find any images of them, other than the logo side.

Looks nice. Is it soft, or one of those semi-rigid things?

Way too much hardware for my liking.
Clasps, buckles, hooks, etc...

This is looking like the strap for me, so far.

My thanks to everyone for your responses.

It's neoprene on both sides, on the inside theres a latex coating which provides a non slip surface.

Crumpler Industry Disgrace makes even the heaviest rig seem to disappear. Huge difference from the OEM strap.

I've been looking for a new neckstrap to get away from the OEM one since it hurts my neck unless I am wearing a fleece or something that fits between the strap and neck.

Out of the ones listed here I really like the Crumpler Industry Disgrace. The price seems good, nice color, looks comfy, and best of all it looks simple. No crazy buckles, clamps etc..

I think that one is what I will be going with

Still looks like the Industry Disgrace for me.

Bare neoprene against my neck is a nightmare of sweatiness, and I don't want any
dealings with all the hardware found on other straps. That PacSafe thing looks like
some sort of sadomasochistic device to me, and it's likely weighted down by all the
additional hardware found within it.

For the price and features, the Industry Disgrace looks like the clear winner so far.

Canon CPS (made by OP/TECH) is hands down the best strap I have ever used. I love mine.
