Trying to decide which telephoto to use when hiking/traveling. Options are the 55-250 or sigma 18-200 non OS. I have a 70-200 f/2.8 for sharpness and/or low light.

They're both just so good that they need to be there. 1/2 as heavy as any of the canon f/2.8 variants makes it a relative lightweight.

Already said that, but... it is worth mentioning that the DO variant is 2x the cost of the 70-300mm IS non-DO, with near-identical performance.

You can get a great deal on this lens for around 400 dollars if you look. And unless you're a pixel-peeper, you'll be very happy. It's very light!
