I dont own a 5D but the type of photography you are looking to do, I would say pull the trigger on one. Its a phenomenal camera.

Its a good move but in your budget, consider updating your lens, the 18-55 will not due. Not sure how well the Viv flash would work on it since I have had no experience.

So factoring into the upgrade, shop around for an equiv so a 5D and 17-40L or 5D and 24-70 2.8 (few brands on those). Just zooming through your site and the work looks pretty good so I reckon you have got the right hands to make it work. I say keep the 400D as a backup now.

if you get one, don't be surprised if you never use your 400D.

I borrowed a friends 5D2 last weekend for my nephew's wedding. I brought my xti along because I thought I would use it for just general snapshots. NOPE! Loved the 5D2 so much it never left my hands!

Get in touch with the PMBW guys. On their forum. For the Middlesex Meet, I got a page spread with 6 photos in it pretty easy.

As for car spreads, bit more tricky but it can be done.
