Well this was my first attempt at any kind of sports photography, I was at a local track day with some friends and I figured I'd try to take a few shots when I wasn't riding. It turned out to be a lot harder than I thought, I really need to work on my panning skills.

C&C is always appreciated. All shots were taken with 70-200 2.8

Looks great too me. Good job on facial capture and cropping. What was your shutter speed? I would like to see some with slower shutter speeds so that the wheels don't look like they are "frozen". #7 is a good panning shot with wheels moving and sharp. Very nice series.

For most of them the shutter speed was 1/1600-2500, on #7 where the wheels are moving the shutter speed was 1/1000. I never thought of that while I was out there, I mainly just shot in aperture priority at f2.8-4.0, next time I'll try more manual settings and see what I come up with.

Thanks for the feedback.

I like your photos but I would have to echo the sentiments of a slower shutter speed to get a sense of motion blur. Just my two cents.

My suggestion is go with TV mode. Start panning at 1/200 and adjust.
