wow I tried ptlens and it makes things soooo much easier. especially the ptlens plugin being able to use photoshop to open the image in ptlens. awesome application. again thanks for pointing me to it:)

Yeah... The nature of my work for the last 8 years was quick and dirty edits of other people's shots, in preparation for the web, flyers, postcards, or real estate catalogs. PTLens got a lot of use!

BTW... It does a real good job of reducing chromatic aberration, too.

no offence guys but all this floorplan stuff is kind of off topic..

No worries, I took it to PM.

It would be nice if we had a place to go for this. There are places for Glamour, Landscapes, HDR....might be a good idea to do one for Real Estate and Architectural. Then, maybe sub categories like 'Interior Techniques', 'Business of', etc. I may be going to far, but it would be nice if we could all pull our resources and knowledge together and help one another.

Is there a particular person to suggest this to? I don't know who's who yet....but I'll get there.

Sorry about the thread jacking. Now back to our regularly scheduled program:

What are some thoughts on this kitchen shot. I am not sure about the composition, but I was running out of room to work with. C+C is appreciated.

Thanks.

Ed

**Edited to (try to) correct White Balance. And after a closer look it does look soft. Bear with me, I am new at this.

Is your WB correct, it looks a bit yellow.

Also, the whole image looks a bit soft, maybe it's just the light?

It's a little too warm for my taste. If it was me, I would grab the eye dropper and select the door in the image for setting the WB. That will get you close, then adjust the temp to get the correct WB. You can do this in both DPP and LR. Well, I'm sure you can do it in PS but I adjust the WB before it goes to PS. I'll usually do it in DPP or LR. Just a personal thing, I guess.

Also, you may want to hit it with a slight curves layer to boost the brightness. Once you adjust the WB the overall image will look a little darker.

IMO it is important to get the WB correct so the colors are true. It is also important to make the room bright enough but not too bright.

I messed around with it and came up with this. It would look cleaner if I had the original....there's only so much you can do with lower resolution.

One thing I always take note of is how white do the white areas look. Just about every room will have something white....ceiling, door, window frame, something is white or close to it. Use that as your guide as you adjust the WB. White should look white. If you get the the whites really close, then the other colors are usually really close. But, this needs to be done with WB adjustments, no saturation. You can pull the saturation back and make white look white, but then you lose the other colors.

I think the odds of that actually happening are slim to none. I thought about asking them to add the word "architectural" into the "Urban and Travel" section so it would read "Urban, Travel, and Architecture" but it seems completely futile after past efforts.

+1! They should definitely create a section dedicated to Architectural photography!

then we create a new forum for just that.

I thought that light bulb was going to be at the end of my sentence - not in front of the thread title in my response...hey, the Mod-Gods are watching, and they are messing with me! ;)
