I already have an understanding with the agents I do business with: Pay the day of the shoot and you get the photos same day or get photos when they are paid if they are not able to pay me same day. None of them have complained. I sometimes have to drive by their office before heading home to process the photos but it's all good.
There is only one agent that I collect after every 4 or 5 houses but we have a "verbal agreement" as she has been using my services for 3 years now.
Something I've recently started doing is charging for when I show up at a property and the owner cancels the shoot without notice. I charge 40$. Again, this has happened to me only 5 times and my clients have not complained for the extra fee as they are aware that it is "a situation that is beyond my control".
A friend of mine, who also does R/E Photography has started charging an extra fee for his agents that call him at last minute with a "you have to do it now or I will be fined for not having the image up within the 5 business days that it is supposed to be on the website!" At first, I disagreed with him but my friend said, and I quote, "If it's not done, the agent will be fined 1000$. So why not charge a fee of 50$ for a rush job ! Specially that you have to cancel plans at last minute and modify your schedule for the agent who knew 5 days ago that pictures had to be taken." Then I agreed with him and now charge an extra 50$ for the "last minute rush job!"
Anyone else have "special fees" ?

Wow, some people have a lot of nerve. I had an agent I did a shoot for and I've been trying to collect my money for two freaking months. She has been ignoring calls, emails, etc. Then, all of a sudden, she pays and then wants me to do another shoot. She orders it today and I tell her I am booked until Friday. She gets pissed at ME as says that doesn't work for her.....LOL
I have to admit, I never had any problems getting paid when I was doing just the Interactive Floor Plans because the company that builds it for me also charges the agent's credit card. However, now that I'm doing a lot more photo only gigs, some of these agents are a pain in the arse to get money from. From now on, I think I'm going to send a PayPal invoice, once they pay it they can have their photos. I just don't have time for billing and tracking down invoices.
Okay, I'm dong venting....LOL
