There is something weird with the hotel, but the pool is in a very good angle and light.
Did you clone the balconys? They look a bit wrong, maybe it's the color balance because they're on shade or maybe because they have low contrast, I don't know. But the pool is really good presented with this shot.

If I may suggest, stick with small flash + large diffuser like white umbrella.
Get more than one flash, minimum three would be sufficient.

I have 4 video lights, six small flash and six large strobes, I am thinking the video lights or the small flashes would be less overpowering for the room sets.

I am trying to create natural looking light.

I can't wait to see some stuff Mark...looking forward to your posts and sharing your knowledge. :)

I'm going to jump in and get some lighting myself, and I'm really wrestling over what to get. I love the portability of speedlites, and I'm really tempted to just go with a few Canon 600ex-rt speedlites. But I notice that while speedlites appear sufficient for residential work, I get the impression that larger commercial interiors are usually shot with either hot-lights or strobes. Since commercial interiors is my primary area of interest, I wonder if I should skip the speedlites and just go with strobes.

For instance, in the upcoming weeks I plan to shoot a 400-seat two-story auditorium that has a large floor-to-ceiling glass curtain wall (it's shaded with electric shades during A/V presentations). I'm just not sure if speedlites have what it takes to light that.

Of course, I hope to get both, eventually, but I want to shoot that auditorium and therefore want to start with whatever I need to get that job done. Thoughts? Suggestions?

no, I did not clone or do anything more than Lightroom type work on it. No Photoshop, etc.
this was a very difficult pool to shoot, despite how easy it looks on screen now. It was in shade from the East until 10 minutes to 1:00 pm and the shade from the West building kicked in just 25 minutes later. So had a short window for getting the pool without shadow but that meant that sun was absolutely directly overhead. This lead to the buildings to be shaded around the balconies by their own structures. There is also a great deal of cyan/aqua color cast on them which is being reflected by the pool itself. The wider shots show the center of the buildings around the pool the only place having this effect. I discussed this with buyer, he is only interested in the pool's presentation and really liked the image. But like you, I thought the buildings looked a bit "off"

I guess I should have taken them to PS and selected the buildings only and reduced the color cast and adjust contrast, highlights/shadows, etc.

thanks for the CC!

William

I would first shoot it with the natural light if the light sources are not too mixed.

The problem I have, is that I have removed all of the lighting from the room sets.

I will of course figure it out when I get around to shooting that part, but was hoping someone on here could head me in the right direction... :-)

It's about time I made a contribution to this thread and having just got out to photograph my first property of spring-time for the architectural practice where I work, I thought this a good opportunity.

I'm pretty pleased with them, but I think there are always things you think you could do better, but hey ho...
