From a walkabout in DC today, enjoy!

I've got the exact same shot from a similar walk around a few years ago

Glad I found this thread. Great inspiration. I'm looking to add a wide angle lens for architecture and real-estate. I'm a Canon shooter do I'm looking very closely at the 16-35L f2.8 II. Anyone using that for this type of photography? Thanks.

I've never seen this location. Where was the shot taken?

As I recall it's along I St. NW, just east of the Farragut West Metro station (18th St. exit). I was headed to Farragut Square so I could go up Connecticut Ave. I just saw the building and had to get the picture.

So is yours. Unfortunately I didn't have that wide of a lens on when I took it, so I chose to compose it a bit different. Funny thing is, if I had been the other side of the street, I probably would have missed it entirely.;)

Thanks; I'll have to check out that area next time I go into DC.

I do a lot of this work (mostly interior/exterior design) using a 7D and the EF-S 10-22 (a really fantastic crop lens), and I was also looking at the 16-35 when I went full frame. After some talking to people, I ended up saving a lot of shekels by going with the 17-40L. It's not f/2.8, but for the type of work I'm doing, I don't need 2.8. And I further saved money by buying used. Got a scorching deal on a terrific lens.

I sold my 17-40 when I sold my 5D and I agree that it was a fantastic lens. Many of the shots in this flicker set (external link) were shot using that lens. Since I was shooting in bright sun most of the time, the 4.0 was more than sufficient.

Thank you for the feedback. I went with the 16-35L II lens. I'm planning to shoot stars with it in addition to architecture and landscapes.
