Chicago Savings Bank Building

"The Chicago Building or Chicago Savings Bank Building was built in 1904-1905. It is located at 7 W. Madison Street, Chicago, Illinois. It was designed by architectural firm Holabird & Roche, it is an early and highly visible example of the Chicago school of architecture. The building's features characterize this style through the use of large "Chicago windows", metal frame construction, distinctive bays, and terra cotta cladding. The combination of the north side projecting bay windows, and the east side rectangular "Chicago windows" with movable sashes is representative of the two typical Chicago school window types. The building is prominently located on the southwest corner of State Street and Madison Street, with visibility increased by an offset in the alignment of State Street. The building is a critical component of a grouping of significant structures, including Carson Pirie Scott and the former Mandel Brothers Store, at what was once labeled the "World's Busiest Corner." The building was designated a Chicago landmark on March 26, 1996. In 1997, it was converted to a dormitory for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The corner of the 3rd floor of the Chicago Building contains the cornerstone of Chicago. It is the 0-0 degree point of the city, and is the location from which all addresses in Chicago begin."

That's an interesting house.

I guess no speedlite was involved in those shots? Just the room lights?

A bit too dark & contrasty to my taste IMHO, but if the real house is like that, then, what can we do.

They don't build them like this anymore. This is the Woodruff-Fontaine House in Memphis, TN. Built in 1870.

First and very BAD attempt with the 24TS-E but hey I am learning.

What is the best way to deal with different light bulbs in a room... i.e. the brown and green wall in the back is just one color but the different light types are causing the anomaly. This is three shots merged

I need some feedback and maybe some guidance on this image.

Single exposure, on camera flash bounced off of ceiling. There is a weird light over the left window from a large mirror on the wall. Does it need a second flash behind the bed to light up the far right corner of the room?

Yes, a second flash would get rid of the harsh shadow of the ceiling fan as well.

Just my 2 cents based on my experience:

1. If you have the resources, bring your own set of light bulbs & change the ones conflicting the colour balance in the room.
Normally for a paid work I always visited the venue for an inspection prior, then going for a proper photoshoot couple of days later. That way you can analyse & prepare on what area that needs more attention, including the lightbulb types, light sources & placement of the furniture.

2. Heavily Post-process the colour temps in Photoshop or Lightroom. For example, mask then desaturate & paint the colour on the particular area with conflicting colour balance. This is a PITA to work on, you need to be very careful & very proficient with mask & brush tool in Photoshop.

News reports indicate there may be some good opportunities for architecture photography at the Sochi Olympics . . .

I just got the 24-70 f2.8 (mk1) on Wednesday, and had a chance to use it during a visit to the Strand Theater in Boston earlier today. I love this lens! It was pretty dark in there, but I was able to get plenty of good shots.
