How do you think multiple lights would speed up your photography process? I shoot ambient with 1 on camera external flash and know that having to dial in any other lights would take much much longer and severely limit composition options.

I don't think multiple lights would speed up my process, but I like the look that a flash can put out when done right (not always). But getting a consistent system down speeds up a process.

Your sig says you have a 6D, have you tried the canon built in wireless tethering? I have it installed on my iPhone and iPad, no need to jailbreak anything.

I have used the wireless to my phone before on the canon EOS app but it doesn't like to connect very well and is a little slow (at least for me). I would just rather get a nice reliable quick connection.

Chicago Public Library Chinatown Branch shot earlier tonight.

Can't quite decide between these two skies. The second image has the late dusk sky, and the first image has a sky from earlier blended in. C&C welcome.

Do they not make a small wireless controller for the canon? This is what i use w/ my A7ii.

http://www.amazon.com …oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 (external link)

Also, best part is, it's dirt cheap and doesn't even weigh an ounce.

Oh those things are the worst. Canon does make one, but I will personally never again use any IR related gear for photography.

Radio triggers might be a little more expensive, if you can't use the flash triggers you already own, but the reliability is more than worth it.

I love that the 6D has WiFi built in, but the range is not so hot, especially outdoors. Does anybody know of a way to extend this? I've looked and looked, but found zilch.

Ah yes what I meant was anything to boost the signal that's not a CamRanger. I know it works very well, but I can't justify the cost at the moment, given that I can do most of my work within the range of the 6D wifi. The few times it doesn't work are aggravating though.

The range for the CamRanger is listed as 150 ft., does that match your experience?

Care to explain why? I use this $10 trigger every single day and have probably 40k frames with this exact one with not a single issue.

How are you using it? Maybe my judgement is harsh, but I don't like the sightline requirements of IR equipment.

I suppose IR works fine in many cases, but as soon as you need to trigger it from another room, or without a direct sightline, it's an issue. On the other hand, you don't need an extra receiver to make it work, which sounds pretty convenient.

I have the Canon IR trigger somewhere around here but since getting a pair of Yongnou trigger/shutter release I never use it. Radio is just so much more user friendly than IR with it's line of sight requirement.

Never had to test the limits, I can tell you at 60-80ft it's solid. The only time I had trouble was user error.

I use Phottix Stratus 2 flash remotes which can also be used as a remote shutter trigger. They don't offer the really sophisticated features of some of the more expensive ones, but they are reliable, easy to use, reasonably cheap, and have all the basic functions I need. The have a range of about 150 feet.

I also use a the DSLR Controller app with my phone to give me a very useful wired remote while shooting RE. I referenced that earlier in this thread.

Consider the power source (the camera), Canon had to make a compromise between wifi power/range and battery life. Yeah, sure Canon could make a stronger wifi signal, but then folks would complain about the batteries getting sucked down to nothing to quickly. Of the two, battery life probably is more important for most folks.

No different then today's cell phones (2-3 mile range), and the old bag phones (15+ mile range). The bag phones could power a stronger signal then what today's cell phones can giving it more range.

When it ceases to be fun, it will be time to walk away
