How does the TPLink compare with the 6D's wifi? I was thinking about switching to that system, but I couldn't find many reviews from other 6D users. I would think the range would be closer to 150ft like the camranger given that it's the same hardware?

I don't know that you need to wait and wait to get your light right, but planning would certainly help. Think about what you can and can't blend. The ground should be easy to mask in if it's too dark, but doing a lot of blending in the tree/sky area could be problematic because trees move, so things won't line up. It's hard to say for sure, but this photo doesn't look like the sky has been replaced, and it would be a mess with so many tiny gaps in the trees.

I honestly don't remember how well the 6D's wifi works because I only used it once haha. The TPLink has worked great for me up to the 50-60 yards away from it I was but I haven't really tried it much above that. I can't imagine the camranger is any better except maybe a slightly more stable firmware/app since it's factory and expensive. But I haven't seen even a close need to want to spend $300 instead of $30.


As for the sun tracker, I think a lot of the problems are I don't always know which way the building faces (it's in a town a few hours away). I guess I can always ask though but being such a large building I think it will be hard to plan it.

Another shot from the animal hospital shoot. I spent way too long editing these yesterday. This is my first shoot of this type, so definitely a lot to learn. This was 3 shots HDR. I stood on a small hill, focused on the building with timer set for 10 sec. Clicked shutter and lifted camera up til I got to the bottom of the tripod legs. IS held the shots in line (also used auto align in LR).

Wow, they for some reason seem a bit wider than 24. Guess you just know what to put in the frame Is there generally not much distortion with that lens or are you just that good??

Also, I'm guessing you're blending both ambient and flash?

And any reason you're switching to a new body when you've got the 5DIII?

Have you tried Google maps Satellite view and Street View? These can often give a very clear idea of which way a house/building faces. Even when you can't actually see the actual frontage you can tell from the layout of the driveway/access.

Most of the stuff I shoot is brand new and not on the map yet haha

Well ill shoot trying ot get straight lines as is from the get go. THen ill take it into Lightroom and correct distortion, then fix the perspective too. Then if i still have issues ill take it to photoshop to adaptive wide angle and do that for a while.
As for new body, im getting the mkIV cant wait!
Lighting was a bit of both on the light ones and the darker one was just ambient.

Newbie telling you I appreciate the inspiration!

You need to tone down the light some. If you look at your histogram, it is weighted to much to the right, to the point where you have a number of blown out areas. It looks unrealistically bright. Its almost a full stop overexposed.
