Money lounge shots as always ^^

Are you modifying your strobe or bare bulbing it? (CTO gels?).

Killer work. Are you using luminosity masks on the bar area or is that also strobed?

Thank you! gelled strobes and the background is just an exposure layered, same thing for the lights etc

What is everyone using for exposure blending? I have been using Lightroom but thought id check in to see what other options are out there.

Most of my work involves blending a flash shot with an ambient shot. I do a good deal of preparation of the files in LR but the blending is in PS. Not sure what kind of blending you can do in Lightroom because you need layers and very precise - sometimes even pixel level - editing to blend exposures.

I use luminosity masks in Photoshop CC. I primarily use Lumenzia or Raya Pro which are luminosity masking panels. I did notice that the HDR Merge feature in Lightroom CC has improved and may be a reasonable alternative to those that work in the RE photography side as speed to deliver images is likely more important to the client. For my architecture paid work, I go slow and steady blending my exposures using luminosity masks. I've considered adding a strobe or two while in the field but so far have not taken the plunge yet.

HDR has improved but it's still HDR and still looks like it. It would only be faster if you could use the LR output without further editing - which, in my experience, is unlikely. It will, at least, be too dark for RE and when you make it brighter, the extra work begins. EF is better but has similae problems. I can, usually, turn out an image blend between one flash and one ambient exposure as fast as an edited HDR and with better results.

I spend a total of about 4 hours on the typical RE shoot. That's about 1.5 hours on site and the rest in LR and PS. In my city there are guys who charge $100 or less per house and pend less than an hour on site and almost no time in post. They usually deliver bad, overdone HDR and hurt all of us. I refuse to work like that or get paid the way they do. Some realtors only want mediocre work at cheap prices but there are others who will pay for better work.

My interior images are a blend of HDR, strobed and ambient. Lightroom seems to be working fine but recently I've been blending 13-15 images instead of the usual three and it ends up looking the same. I expected it to look a bit better.

Why so many? It only takes 7 at one stop to pretty much cover the whole range of the sensor. Are you in very dark rooms with bright windows?

Automated blending of ambient and flash will produce difficult color shifts. Blend by hand in PS. You will have more control and better results. Save the automated stuff for a back up in difficult situations.

Well I dont blend everything into one like that, my workflow is different than a simple blend. But as for why so many? ill be honest, i was just trying something new. But if seven is all you recommend Ill give that a try next!
