rather than post a slew of images, I made a collage of a project that got wrapped up and received final approval from the client this week...

I have only ever shot one hotel that had them, and it was really hard to bounce light...my style of shooting architecture is more about accentuating the light that is naturally there between ambient through windows and the lighting, so its not a lot of direct added light, but softer bounced light...black ceilings suck it all up and if they are not particularly attractive, they end up looking like black holes because you don't want to see all the details...

For shots like this I use continuous lighting. The bouncing light off black ceilings is rough.

Any tips for getting the window view that crisp? I've been trying to get something remotely close to that here in LA for like years.

So this shot consists of around 40 layers and the background is placed, I know its not everyone's cup of tea but the hotels like that aesthetic

Well done Anthony and Travis. Love the collage idea by the way.

I had to recently turn down an opportunity for a repeat client who wanted aerial footage and timelapse on a commercial property. I had previously captured images of the property for them but I felt like my video skills are not ready to take on this large project. Have you guys faced this situation before?

Thanks and yeah actually, it was a bit of a bummer. Waldorf Astoria wanted a drone shot of their pool, they asked if i had a license and I didnt, someone else got booked and i missed out on that one. Sometimes I guess we have to accept the fact we cant do it all.

Nice work. The collage also let's you see how the images feel as a set, does it have a cohesive feel.

I need to get started on drone work...spend the personal time to get comfortable with it so that I can do it commercially if I need to.

Rhe problem is that the competition is starting to offer the full spectrum of services and clients want to hire one company.

That's too bad Anthony. It was their loss for sure. I need to spend some time acquiring my 107 license.

Yep definitely agree Travis. I had to refer the work out to a local media group. I need to practice more with video and compiling timelapse shots mixed with video. It's not enough to provide good photos anymore.

nice. It is something I can see being good for you...you do work that might need to be reproduced on a very large scale.

Finished another set for the Landscape Architect out in SF...I enjoyed being in this space for sunset, and can see why the client spent the pile of money to renovate the back yard!
