Hi

a friend has turned to me for my expert photo knowledge so I am coming to you. He is a film cameraman and wants to do some time lapse with a 5d mark II
- Any advice about kit ?
- Any useful starting points for tutorials - i've never tried time lapse
- any absolute no no's , must do's
- He is looking at shooting a subject over a 3-4 hour period. I have a 1Ds Mark II I thought we could trial something with that.

Basically i am lost and want to help him - point me in the right direction please.
Thanks in advance

Obviously a tripod is necessary.

You need a remote, such as the Canon TC80N3: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …1-REG/Canon_2477A002.html (external link)

And, you need software that can create the time lapse video from the photos. I use Quick Time Pro. Here is a very straightforward tutorial: http://philipbloom.net …lls-timelapse-into-video/ (external link)

It can also help to have an AC Adapter such as this one depending on how many images you are taking: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …5-REG/Canon_3351B002.html (external link)

As for tips, set the camera to manual exposure and manual focus. That should get you started.
