Ok folks, I need some creative inspiration for my shoot tomorrow AM...I'm shooting a friend of mines wife's female generation shot...all the females from the three daughters, and herself, her mom and grandmother and sister in law...

It will be outside in their backyard which I think has some nice landscape, at 8am.

I'm really new to posing people, I have mainly been shooting lifestyle type, in the moment pictures, which I want to do here as well, but with an 80 something year old grandmother, some will be posed I'm sure...

I just don't know how to pose them really, so I'm looking for some picture ideas for inspiration...I guess when it comes down to it, I'll just use my creative eye and get them arranged in a nice way, but wanted to ask around here for some ideas if any.

Thanks!

I"m sure you can google that and get some great ideas. Something to keep in mind though is that you need to keep the oldest person in the photo, the central focus. Why? Because the matriarch of the clan is the most important person and the placing of her will visually convey that fact. So place her FIRST, in the center of whatever pose you are doing, and everyone else is peripheral to her. You may also want to consider having the daughters of the matriarch, touching her in some subtle way. A hand lovingly on one shoulder, that sort of thing. It is these little details that matter.
Another thing to consider, if there are any babies, is that they should not be hidden in the crowd. Set any babies on grandmas lap. the juxtaposition of youngest and oldest is always nice.
Finally, you are shooting all females? Trust me on this one: have a hand mirror available and once you have them all posed, walk around holding it up to each woman at a time, and have them adjust their hair, straighten their jewellry, hide bra straps etc. They will love you for it.
THEN, and only then, step behind the camera and schmooze the smiles out of them.
