So I had some questions / concerns with my lenses over the past few days so I figured I'd ask here to see what words of wisdom the POTN boards could lend me. I'll start with the most recent issue:

Condensation.

I took my camera / lenses to the local pier today to get some cool shots of a house across the water. Its about 81 and humid: When I took my camera out my lens was completely covered in condensation. I tried wiping it with my lens cleaner equipment and it just kept reappearing. I looked at my other lenses and found that all areas with glass were fogged (including the inner lens of my 55-250). I was going to let my lens warm up to the same temp. as outside but then the camera stopped turning on and I got real scared and just put everything away (its fine and works now). Are there any fixes to this? How do you keep condensation off of the lenses?

My second worry is salt from the water that evaporates into the air. Can this cause any long term damage?

My third question is can the lens glass be damaged from shooting into the sun?

Thanks!

OK, to answer all of your questions:
-The lens will not get damaged by pointing it at the sun, although the manual states so. The BODY will! And it will basically damage the image sensor. Never put it straight up and point at the sun!
-The foggy lens interior will go away. I was suggested here to put the camera/lens into the plastic bag whenever you leave the AC'd room and go into the humid climate. The camera will warm up slowly in the bag, and after 10 min you can take it out and shoot.
-I've had the same thing happen to my XSi & Tamron lens, and everything was working like normal after that. No long term damage. I took it to Cancun last summer, and it was very humid. I didn't bother to put it into a plastic bag, and noticed the foggy interior. Then after I came back into the room, the glass was clear again.

As for your second question... salt does not evaporate into the air so you don't have to worry about that one.
