Thinking of being a vendor at a local fair

I am thinking of renting a vendor space at the local fair, this coming September. So I thought I should ask you all that have done it before what sort of things I would need that I havent considered, and find out how successful it was for you.

The fair is for 9 days, that includes two fridays and two saturdays.

This one gives two options, indoors and out, outdoors is slightly cheaper. indoors 8'x10' is $150 and 8'x20' is $275. indoors is 10'x10' = $125 and 10'x20' is $250. Power is available at 110 amps or 220 amps.

I think I would prefer outside, unless its very hot then I probably will wish I went for indoors. I was thinking of doing pics on the spot, but with the space available I dont know how realistic that would be. I dont need alot of space for the computer and printer so most of the space would be a background stand. or should I think of using this just to advertise my work and get appointments scheduled?

one problem is I dont like to use my laptop for photoshopping because it doesnt give a good representation of color. But I could get around this by giving clients on the spot two choices, black and white, or sepia. And if they must have color, get them to order it and print it later with whcc.

for a background I was thinking of just getting a whole bunch of hay bales and stack them up giving people to sit, and crating a nice background to block out anyone in the background that could be walking by.

ive never even been to this fair, I had the chance to the last few years but I couldnt justify us paying the entrance fee just to walk around for the day. :) The cheapest booth option is about twice the price of regular admission for 2 people for the week. :)

now that ive thought about it a bit more, perhaps I will regret being outside if it rains at all during the week.

But if I was inside, the flashing would probably annoy everyone after a while.

Here is a sketch of the stand I was thinking of having everyone sit on. It would be made up of small square hay bales.

that pyramid needs about 10 bales to make up. I was thinking of putting more on the back to make an easy backdrop, but that would take 30 more. And I dont think it would be that stable so I probably wont do that. Im not sure what sort of background to use that would look country-fied. :)

Yeah... up north quite a bit. Up in the northern most part of Virginia - tucked between West Virginia and Maryland.
