I just got back from a 10 day trip around the Golden Triangle region (bordered by Laos, Thailand and Myanmar) and far north western Laos.. My aim was to document some of the ethnic groups up there, in some of the remotest areas of Laos..

These are Akha women and in my eyes the most mysterious and spiritual of the ethnic groups.. Very difficult to get a decent pic of..

Worthy of national geographic Jurgen! I had no idea there was such ethnic and cultural diversity in just one area of Laos. I must get back one day, sipping beer Lao on watching the sunset over the Mekong in vientiane is as far as I got last time :-)

Thanks Rob..

Laos is probably the most ethnically diverse country in Asia.. About 35% are ethnic people..

You won't recognise the Mekong at Vientiane these days.. The Koreans are building a large road along the bank and the main channel is only about 500 metres wide towards the Thai side..

BeerLao is still as good as it's ever been..

Thanks Blake.. The Akha woman in the second pic chews betel nuts.. They stain the teeth terribly.. They chew betel nuts like South Americans chew coca leaves..

Nice photos, only the eyes seem to be a bit OOF in #6.

I like the candid images, where the subject didn't notice you, best.
