Being the owner of a DB32 350 and a DBD34 500 "clubmans", it seems to me that it is either a touring model, which originally had conventional handlebars, standard footrest positions with the gear lever facing forward, or a "clubman" which were fitted with clip-on handle bars, rearset footrests and rear facing gear lever.
So is it a "clubman" with conventional handlebars or a "tourer" with rearset footrests?

The Gold Star at the top of the thread looks like a "touring" model combined with a "clubman".
The "clubman" had clip-on handlebars, rearset footrests, RRT2 close ratio racing gearbox with the gear lever facing backwards.
The "tourer" was the same machine, but with conventional handle bars, footrests in the normal position and the gear lever facing forward. It usually had a standard ratio gearbox.

My first bike was a 1953 BSA Bantam 125 in 1966 when i was 16.
I then progressed to a BSA Bantam 175, 2 BSA C15 Stars 250, then a 1955 BSA GOLD STAR 500 Clubman in 1968.
Since then i have had various bikes over the years, Royal Enfield Constellation 700, 1967 Triumph Bonneville 650, Velocette Venom 500, 2 Tritons (Triumph engine in a Norton frame} 1975 Triumph Trident T150 750, and a fairly modern Triumph 900 Sprint.

I always thaught the Goldie was the best bike i had, and always hoped i would have another oneday.

Well that day has finally arrived 40 years on. The proud owner of a pair of classics people drool over, even though they cost me a packet
