Don't mind the pp but you could have used more DOF and maybe a more attractive daisy.

Is that dirt on the lens/mirror, or were you shooting through a window?

It's dirt! Must look into how to use the blower I bought

Bearing in mind I was crazy close to the flower what would be a good aperture to use? I'm not very good at judging, and usually go too narrow

Personally, I can live with the shallow dof,. However the cropping of the petals makes this stem look a little unattractive.

Over-all I think I like it...particularly the pp. A couple of little nitpics though...

First I don't think the DOF was actually too shallow as much as misplaced. As is, it comes up just a bit short of the center of the flower. I think if the center of the flower had of been in focus, even if the pedals in the extreme foreground were slightly blurred, I think it would have worked.

Also, I would most definitely have cloned out those two little brown spots on the white pedal...very distracting. I also would have either moved the green leaf from in front of the white pedal or simply cloned that out as well.

Last but not least, I would have tried to do something with that one pedal that's "sticking up"...personally I would have tried to finesse it in to a better position or, considering the brown spot on the pedals, maybe used a different flower instead.

Over all I like the concept but I think these little details take away from the image as a whole.

I know there are a few things technically wrong here... DOF, DOL(DIRT ON LENS) and maybe the subject is a little ragged... but I think that in this case they all work together with the interesting PP to make a beautiful image that is a little edgy, which is not typical of a flower shot... I think you pulled it off very well. IMHO

Thanks for the comments, obviously i was going for something beautiful, but then when i opened it and saw dirty lens and not the nicest flower i thought i would process it to fit, i suppose that's why the '?' at the end of the title (although i'm rubbish at thinking of titles!!)
